About us

Thames Hospital serves as a vital healthcare provider for a population of 60,000 people in the Thames/Coromandel/Hauraki region. During the summer months, this number can skyrocket to around 200,000 people.

Thames Hospital has a 24 hour emergency department, a day surgery unit, general medicine and rehabilitation. We are supported by Waikato Hospital, a major tertiary hospital in Hamilton.

Living in Thames

Research and education

Nurses are supported to further their education to augment their work at Thames Hospital i.e. ACLS, triage training, immunisations training, plastering skills etc.  They are also supported to further their education – Masters in Nursing funded by Health New Zealand.
